draping
in this module, i experienced variations of draping such as 3D draping, knitted draping, fitted draping, and sustainable draping.
some draping projects i did in my first semester of fashion design in year 2. i explored draping a top with knitted fabric as well as draping a muslin sleeved dress i designed.
signature evening gown
a signature evening gown i made using 6.5 yards of shantung silk. the skirt is sustainably draped with zero waste techniques.edited by: me

industry studio project: AFTER HOURS
Industry Studio Project, a module in my third year in collaboration with Ghim Li Pte. Ltd. I chose the brand 'NAUTICA' to research and design a zero-waste miniature collection. This zero-waste design was chosen as second prize winner by Ghim Li to be used for NAUTICA's F/W 25 potential dress line.
sewing & drafting
in this module, we were tasked to draft, pattern cut, and sew our designs for basic everyday apparel such as pants, jackets, blazers, dresses, and skirts.

a bomber jacket i designed, drafted, and sewed for my drafting class. made with cotton/polyester and duchess satin.one of my more proud works, especially since my design was complex with lots of curves and sharp edges and i was able to finish it up despite the short timeline i had for this assignment.
some extra sewing projects.
year 1: fashion presentation techniques
in this module, we were tasked to sketch and render 2 inspiration boards, 5 fashion looks, and 2 accessories based on a selected subculture.i decided to explore more on the glamrock subculture and how i can modernise it further by altering the hues and vibrancy of the colour palettes while at the same time maintaining that 'Glamrock' style such that it is still identifiable within the subculture by using trippy details.

fashion trend research
Market trends and forecast research that I did for my third year module. the brands I chose to research and design for was Simone Rocha and Betty Williams.

fashion branding
in this elective subject, i learned how the retail side of fashion worked such as marketing strategies through choice of colours and fonts, brand names, brand logos, and the use of brand prisms + consumer tribes to find a common ground between target market and the designer/brand.i explored with photography and photoshopping to create a social media layout to promote the brand.i came up with the brand "TidalChic". read ahead to know more about the brand's concept.
photography
some studio shoots i did in my first year in design. i wanted to go for sort of the "scary cute" vibe for my photography assignment and wanted a pink backdrop to emphasise the sort of "sweet innocence" look.however, my school did not have a pink backdrop, so i ended up photoshopping one myself. it was my first time trying photoshop to edit an image, so it was a great opportunity for me to explore new tools and techniques.
sustainable designs
in this segment, i explored how i can be more innovative and eco-friendly with my designs, considering how sustainability is a growing and recurring theme in the fashion industry.here are some sustainable designs i made in my first and second year of studying fashion.
the 3-in-1 top and bag
studio project one: i was assigned to plan and create a prototype product for local singaporean fashion brands. i decided to go for 'Babecave Batik' and looked into the background of their brand.
zero waste draping
sustainable techniques in silhouettes: i was tasked to drape 6 dress looks on the mannequin using muslin without leaving any wasted fabrics.i explored many techniques, including gathering, pleats, braiding, origami, and subtraction cutting.
after this, i was tasked to choose one look to create a life size version.the look i chose was a one seam dress, made with one entire fabric without any seams except for the center back opening.
entomophilia
a menswear collection i made for my second year studio project. we were tasked to create a collection based on a collaboration between a fashion brand and non fashion design brand.my chosen designers were Chan Chit Lo and architecture designer Kendrick Bangs Kellogg.
after trend analysis and brand researching, i started sketching 40 looks and finalised 5. for my final assignment, i had to make 1 of the 5 selected looks.most of the looks maintained a baggy silhouette to portray Chan Chit Lo's brand selling point.

when the Y.W.B.I.T. competition details first came out, i knew i wanted my theme to be something different from your typical pollution topics such as air and land pollution. thus, i chose to research on one of the most overlooked form of pollution: noise pollution.noise pollution often correlates with life on land which the media always interprets it as. i wanted to step out of what the media represents and and find out what the world needs to know more about. that’s when i found out about the noise pollution effect on marine life.a simple google search “marine pollution” will get you the results “chemical spills” and “throwing trash”, but rarely noise pollution.when i first found out that seismic waves that are released from land drastically affects sea life too such as permanent genetic mutation in jellyfish, i was shocked because they live so deep in the ocean that we never get to see it first hand.as an avid lover of marine life whose indigenous family has long lived on the sea, it makes me feel disappointed and guilty about mass urbanisation and the noises of everyday construction works, especially when living in a small first world country like singapore where we are constantly surrounded by waters.through my design, I aim to increase awareness about noise pollution, as it is one of the most overlooked forms of pollution. singapore is a small island with constant construction work because of its increasing population through PRs and foreign talents. smaller land equals bigger noise pollution impacts— an impact that we never seem to notice much in marine life due to the mainstream media.
moodboard
for my inspiration board, i wanted to curate images of marine life that are greatly affected by noise pollution as well as actual pictures of seismic waves and underwater sounds that are recorded and turned into images.these images are then implemented in my inspiration of forms, colour schemes, and materials to be used in my collection.
in this competition, we were challenged to use waste products such as plastic bottles and scrap fabrics to create our couture piece.i chose to maintain a specific colour scheme in my work. the materials i used were also overall unconventional and needs time to work with as they're fragile.following is a material board i made that were eventually used in my actual garment.
material board
fashion collages
rendered with adobe photoshop.i wanted to explore a more indigenous and tribal look inspired by avatar 2 characters. some skills applied include: masking, colour changing, blending, warping.images used are from actual marine life and things associated with noise pollution such as sound waves.
